Our club started in mid-late 2007, with a group of girlfriends who happened to love wine. A wine club seemed like the perfect route to fulfill our desire to get the group together to gab and to learn about the art of wine...and enjoy a few bottles at the same time!
Each third Thursday of the month the Purple Angels pick a theme of wine (either a specific region, type of grape or a particular characteristic) for each month's tasting. Our wine partner from the Wine Gallery Market in Atlanta, GA selects the wine for that tasting and coaches the club in descriptions of the nose, understanding the differences in grapes and how to pair up foods with each theme.
The Purple Angels wine club named was derived from a recent wine club night where we all tasted and enjoyed the Carmenère and Petite Verdot grapes that made the delectable Montes Purple Angel Colchagua Valley wine. The bottle was gorgeous and the wine was our favorite of the evening, therefore we became the Purple Angels.

Sometimes I drink it when I', alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory.
I trifle with it if I'm not hungry and I drink it when I am.
Otherwise I never touch it, unless I am thirsty."
